There has been a significant shift in the ways people have worked throughout the pandemic and it is becoming increasingly clear that many of those who are able, wish to continue to work from home at least some of the time. This has led to the use of a relatively new term: hybrid working. Hybrid itself refers to something that is made up of two different elements, in this context, office and home working.
Many businesses, whatever their size, are now considering what ‘hybrid’ means for them, how they might meet this new employee demand, and what will need to be in place for these new ways of working to be effective.
There is a balance to be had…….
Providing a dedicated workspace for employees is incredibly valuable and provides several benefits:
Getting everyone back together…. It’s hard to replicate that spontaneous kitchen chat that sparks an idea or replace that work colleague face to face support we all value. Bouncing an idea off someone sitting a few feet away really makes a difference. Flexible workspaces offer those opportunities and can reinvigorate those connections.
Offering employees choice…. Many have had to adjust to a different working landscape throughout this challenging period. By providing options for your workforce, as an employer who is listening to how they hope to work, can only be a positive thing. It should result in better retention of staff and also contribute to the successful recruitment of strong talent by providing the flexibility and support that really makes a difference in peoples’ working lives.
Confidence and flexibility…. Providing a safe, varied working environment is the future. Covid safe surroundings that provide flexible working options with breakout areas and opportunities to work away from colleagues if needed is crucial as we move forward. Add the option of a few meeting rooms into the mix and this provides versatility for everyone, facilitating improved productivity and collaboration, and we think it’s not too much of a stretch to say a happier worker.
